Project Update from the City of Boulder

Updated: Feb 19, 2019

Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) is currently developing Integrated Site Projects (ISPs) for several specific OSMP locations, including the Wonderland Lake area and OSMP's Gebhard property on the South Boulder Creek corridor southeast of the East Boulder Community Center. Goals that these ISPs intend to achieve are:

  • How best to implement previously approved OSMP plans.

  • Improving visitor experiences and sustaining important natural areas.

  • Addressing other open space values as outlined in the Boulder City Charter.

Integrated Site Project Updates

Open Space and Mountain Parks will host two community meetings to receive community feedback for the following two ISPs now underway:

Wonderland Lake ISP: OSMP has heard from our community and is setting aside preliminary alternatives for the Wonderland Lake area while we seek guidance from the City Council, the Open Space Board of Trustees and additional community input. Moving forward, OSMP will no longer be considering a boardwalk and a pier in the area. There will be no implementation of any alternatives in 2019. OSMP will be providing an update to the City Council at its Tuesday, Feb. 19 meeting. Comments submitted by Jan. 22 will be included in a report provided to City Council and available to the public. OSMP also will be discussing this project with the Open Space Board of Trustees in April and will be updating the community about the future direction of the area.
